Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, the founder and leader of Perez Chapel International, has opened up about his past struggles with substance use before dedicating his life to Christ.
In a recent interview with Joy Prime, Agyinasare shared his personal transformation story, revealing that he was under the influence of marijuana when he experienced a spiritual awakening. According to him, the turning point came in 1987, when his interest in a young woman led him to attend a church service where he ultimately gave his life to Christ.
Recalling the pivotal moment, Agyinasare stated, “I was high on marijuana. I walked into the church room wearing what we used to call a Bola shirt and waist-high trousers. I sat at the back, waiting for the service to end so I could leave with this girl. Then I heard the preacher say, ‘If you want to give your life to Jesus…’ I came under conviction. I don’t remember exactly what he said because I was high, but I remember I had never heard an altar call before. When I heard the altar call, I went to the front, gave my life to Jesus, and on that day, the power of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco was broken from my life.”
