In a recent turn of events, popular Ghanaian TikTok star, Akonaba, has been embroiled in controversy after being accused by a fellow TikToker of engaging in homosexual activities, referred to locally as “trumutrumu,” and of faking his marriage. The accuser, who has come forth with these allegations, claims that Akonaba’s marriage was a mere cover-up for his sexual orientation, which remains illegal under Ghanaian law.

According to the accuser’s viral video, Akonaba not only betrayed him by sabotaging unspecified plans but was also romantically involved with an up-and-coming gospel artist. “Akonaba is not who he claims to be. The so-called marriage was all a lie to cover up the truth about him. Meanwhile, he has been doing ‘trumutrumu’ with an upcoming gospel musician. This is someone I trusted, and he turned around to betray me,” the accuser stated.

Akonaba has previously shared numerous videos with his alleged spouse on social media platforms, yet the partner’s face was never shown, fueling speculations about the authenticity of the relationship. Despite these claims, Akonaba has not made any public responses to address the allegations.

This situation has sparked a significant debate on social media, with users divided over the credibility of the accusations and the implications for Akonaba’s public persona. The controversy also touches on the broader issues of privacy, the legality and societal acceptance of homosexuality in Ghana, and the ethics of public exposure on social media platforms.
