The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced that temporary traffic management and control measures will be implemented at the Tema Motorway Grade Separated Intersection (Phase 2) starting from Monday, October 2, 2023. The measures are being taken to reduce traffic congestion and improve the safety of motorists during the construction of the second phase of the intersection.

Motorists are advised to take note of the following road diversions:

  • For motorists travelling from Accra towards Afienya and Akosombo: Keep to the outer lane and exit onto the Harbour Road. Then move to the left lane and execute the U-Turn after passing the Pedestrian Bridge to merge with traffic coming from Tema. Following the merge, stay in the left lane, which will guide you straight through the intersection.
  • For motorists travelling from Tema to Accra: Keep to the left lane and go across the flyover then execute the U-Turn on the Akosombo Afienya Road after going past the Pedestrian Bridge, to merge with the on-coming traffic. After merging, move into the right lane then use the ramp to get onto the Tema motorway.
  • For motorists going from Aflao and Dawenya to Tema: Stay in the right lane towards Akosombo Afienya Road, then execute the U-Turn on the Akosombo Afienya Road after going past the Pedestrian Bridge to merge with the on-coming traffic. After merging stay in the left lane as this will take you straight through the intersection.

The GHA apologizes for any inconvenience these traffic management measures may cause and urges motorists to cooperate with the road signs and instructions of traffic personnel.

Motorists are also advised to plan their journeys ahead of time and use alternative routes if possible.
