Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia led the government delegation to receive the remains of Christian Atsu at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Sunday evening, February 19.
According to reports, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would have led the delegation but for the fact that he is currently out of the country.
The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, and a Deputy Minister of Sports were two other prominent figures in the VIP area of the KIA.
The Turkish Airlines flight that brought him in is currently on the tarmac at KIA’s Terminal 2, where the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is also represented by a powerful delegation.
Reports state that the body would be taken in and then sent to the 37 Military Hospital. On Sunday, February 19, the government team was lead by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia when they arrived at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to receive Christian Atsu’s remains.
The group would have been led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo if he weren’t now traveling abroad, according to reports.
