In 2005, Davies founded Crafter’s Companion, a supplier of materials for crafters. During an internship at a small craft shop, she spotted a need for a tool to make custom envelopes for handmade cards.
With the help of a local carpenter, she designed a product called The Enveloper, which she launched on the Ideal World TV shopping channel and sold 30,000 units in less than six months. By the time she graduated, the company had a turnover of £500,000.
By 2019, Crafter’s Companion will be exporting to more than 40 countries. The company employs 200 people internationally and also has offices in Corona, California, Evesham, Chesterfield and Newton Aycliffe in the UK.
Crafter’s Companion’s turnover in 2018 was reportedly close to £25m. As part of her mentoring work with the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, Davies supports and mentors businesses, while also supporting women in business.
