Five people were detained again after attempting to escape from police cells in Awutu Bereku

Three Nigerians and two Ghanaians make up the group of five suspects who were re-arrested after attempting to flee from police custody.

The escapees were detained after being arrested for a variety of offenses, including stealing air conditioners and mobile phones, among others.

The suspects used a chisel and a hammer to make their move on Monday, November 21, 2022, at around one in the morning, according to a Dailyguidenetwork.com article.

They made the attempt in an effort to avoid being arrested and charged this week.

The suspects succeeded in breaking the iron bars of the cell but saw their efforts thwarted by the officers on duty who became alarmed by the unusual noise emanating from the cells.

The Awutu Bereku Police Command has since rounded up the suspects and transferred them to a different police station for safekeeping pending their trial.
