In Ghana’s preliminary World Cup team for Qatar 2022, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Salis Abdul Samed are among the newcomers and returnees.
The Black Stars provisional squad now also includes Jeffery Schlupp, Samuel Owusu, and Majeed Asimeru, who have been absent from the team for some time.
Odoi has not yet finished the procedures to change his nationality from England to Ghana, but he is still named to the team as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) works against the clock to complete the procedures.
According to FIFA rules, the Bayer Leverkusen star who is on loan from Chelsea will be qualified to represent Ghana on November 17. Coincidentally, Ghana’s final pre-World Cup friendly match against Switzerland will take place on the same day.
Schlupp last represented Ghana.
The provisional squad, which will have a maximum of 55 players, is set to be submitted by the close Friday, October 21.
It will be trimmed to at most 26 players before the start of the tournament on November 20 in Qatar.
