The government is allegedly hiding behind the Ghana Police Service in order to thwart the Arise Ghana demonstration’s organizers, according to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The police’s attempts to obtain a restraining order from the court to prevent the protest, according to the party, are “choreographed to prevent overworked and suffering Ghanaians from releasing their emotions about the corrupt Akufo Addo/Bawumia regime through street protest.”

On Monday, June 27, the NDC released a statement bearing George Opare Addo’s signature as the Party’s national youth organizer.

“Every Ghanaian who wants our country to succeed should support a protest like the Arise Ghana event. The Police hierarchy regrettably looks to have happily joined the crooks in government plundering the State as their protective cover, the statement says in some places.

After expressing its displeasure with the Police, the Party urged the protesters to continue fighting and instead force the government to grant Ghanaians some relief.

“We implore the Arise Ghana demonstration’s organizers not to be alarmed by the police and government’s cowardly methods. All of our nation’s youth are adamant that the Akufo Addo administration has lost track of its promised deliverables.

“We stand in solidarity with the organisers and would lend all support where necessary to ensure Ghanaians rise in unison against this tyrannical government,” the statement added.

On Tuesday, June 28, from 3 pm to 10 pm, a pressure organization called Arise Ghana and its allies plan to demonstrate against the nation’s deteriorating economic situation.

The Police, however, oppose the demonstration’s planned duration.

As a result, it has moved forward with judicial proceedings in an effort to change how long the protest would last.

The group has responded by opposing the lawsuit with an affidavit.
