The convener of the #FixTheCountry movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has explained why he believes the Ghanaian armed forces are “useless.”

Oliver Barker claimed that he gave the military the nickname because, rather than defending the public, the military actively brutalized citizens. Barker maintained that he labeled them useless due to recent actions in an appearance on Asaase Radio.

Oliver Barker made the remark in response to an interview he gave on June 10th.

“Given this perception of our Ghanaian Armed Forces, I believe they are useless. They believe that their sole responsibility is to run through our streets and murder us. They are meant to be a cornerstone of our democracy, according to Barker-Vormawor.
