Major Setback: The La Jarochita Injury Shakes CMLL
Officials from Mexico’s historic promotion CMLL confirmed that the high-flying veteran suffered acute damage to her left wrist during recent training bouts. Medical staff evaluated the luchadora and determined that continuing to compete in high-impact international fixtures would risk permanent structural damage to the joint.
Her sudden withdrawal creates an immediate void in Team Mexico’s defensive line for the annual Women’s International Grand Prix. Held at the legendary Arena México in Mexico City, the single-night tournament pits top domestic talent against elite international contenders visiting from Japan, the United States, and across Latin America.
Profile of a Lucha Libre Champion
Known for her signature mask, thunderous running kicks, and aerial agility, La Jarochita has remained one of the promotion’s central female attractions for over a decade. Her iconic mask-versus-mask triumph over Reyna Isis at the 89th Anniversary Show cemented her status among the pantheon of modern Mexican lucha libre icons.
Alongside her long-running championship reigns—including holding the Mexican National Women’s Tag Team Championship with Lluvia as the powerhouse duo Las Chicas Indomables—she was anticipated to be one of the frontrunners to claim this year’s Grand Prix trophy.
International Ripple Effects for Arena México
The Grand Prix serves as a crucial cross-promotional bridge between CMLL and major global allies, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), Ring of Honor (ROH), and All Elite Wrestling (AEW). With La Jarochita sidelined, CMLL matchmakers are scrambling to name an alternate competitor capable of matching her defensive power against world-class flyweights and heavy hitters.
Fans around the world have voiced their support across social platforms, praising her durability while wishing her a swift recovery. Promotion officials are expected to announce replacement talent and provide a full medical timeline ahead of the upcoming Arena México broadcast.
