Electoral Commission Begins Nationwide Transport of Voting Supplies

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has officially commenced the nationwide distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive voting materials from its headquarters in Accra to the various regional and district offices. This crucial logistical rollout marks a major milestone in the country’s meticulous preparation for upcoming civic exercises.

As part of standard operational protocols, heavily guarded convoys transporting ballot papers, biometric verification devices (BVDs), and other essential logistics departed the national capital under strict security supervision. The deployment is designed to ensure that every constituency receives its required inventory well in advance of election day.

Ensuring Transparency in the Distribution of electoral materials Ghana

To guarantee absolute transparency and build public confidence, representatives from registered political parties, security agencies, and accredited election observers were present at the EC headquarters to witness the dispatch process. Stakeholders monitored the loading and sealing of trucks, ensuring that all protocols regarding the chain of custody were strictly observed.

  • Security Protocol: Armed police escorts are accompanying every regional convoy to secure transit routes.
  • Stakeholder Oversight: Political party agents inspected serial numbers and verification seals before trucks departed.
  • Regional Receival: Regional electoral directors will verify inventories upon arrival at secured regional strongrooms.

Speaking on the logistical operation, EC officials reiterated the commission’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a transparent, credible, and efficient electoral environment. “Our priority is to ensure timely delivery and ironclad security for every single item leaving our central stores,” an official noted during the dispatch briefing.

Next Steps for Regional Electoral Offices

Upon arrival at the regional capitals, the materials will be stored in highly secured, designated strongrooms monitored round-the-clock by state security personnel. District electoral officers will subsequently take delivery of their respective allocations for onward distribution to designated polling stations ahead of the national exercise.

The general public and all political stakeholders have been urged to remain calm and cooperate fully with election officials as the nation edges closer to the polls. The Electoral Commission continues to update the populace on its operational timeline to reinforce accountability and public trust.
