Major Fire Incident Rocks Avenor

A sudden and destructive Avenor fire outbreak has left a trail of devastation in parts of Accra, disrupting local commercial activities and plunging several communities into darkness. The fierce blaze, which erupted on Thursday, quickly engulfed nearby structures, prompting an immediate emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

Eyewitnesses reported thick plumes of black smoke billowing into the evening sky as firefighters battled intensely to bring the inferno under control. The incident has once again brought safety compliance and rapid disaster response in commercial hubs within the capital into sharp focus.

Impact on Power Supply and ECG Intervention

The fire caused severe damage to critical electrical infrastructure in the area. The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) was forced to undertake an emergency shutdown of power feeders supplying the enclave to ensure the safety of firefighting personnel and prevent further electrical hazards.
