Ashanti Regional Police Command Implements Traffic Plan

As the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares for its high-stakes internal gathering, the NPP Delegates Conference has prompted comprehensive security and logistical preparations in the Ashanti Region. The Ashanti Regional Police Command has officially announced a series of temporary road closures and traffic diversions across key arterial routes in Kumasi to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and facilitate the smooth movement of delegates and officials.

With thousands of party faithful, government officials, and media practitioners expected to converge on the garden city, law enforcement agencies are leaving nothing to chance. Security analysts note that large political gatherings require meticulous traffic management to prevent gridlock and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities.

Affected Routes and Alternative Diversions

Motorists plying various routes within the Kumasi metropolis have been advised to take note of the security directives issued by the police administration. According to the police communique, specific thoroughfares leading to the conference venue will be restricted to accredited vehicles bearing official security passes.

• Restricted Zones: Immediate perimeters surrounding the main conference venue will be cordoned off, permitting only authorized vehicular traffic.
• Alternative Routes: Commuters traveling through Kumasi are encouraged to utilize designated bypasses to avoid major traffic bottlenecks during the peak hours of the conference.
• Security Checkpoints: Joint security task forces comprising the Ghana Police Service and complementary agencies will mount snap checkpoints to screen individuals and vehicles entering the regional capital.

Traffic management teams will be stationed at critical junctions to direct drivers and offer real-time assistance to stranded motorists. Commercial transport operators, including local taxi drivers and intra-city trotro drivers, have been urged to cooperate fully with security personnel on the ground.

Ensuring a Peaceful Democratic Exercise

The NPP Delegates Conference stands as a crucial milestone in the party’s internal calendar, drawing intense national attention and rigorous media coverage. Beyond traffic management, the regional security council has reinforced intelligence-gathering operations to forestall any form of civil disturbance or breaches of the peace.

Leadership from both the police command and the political party have jointly appealed to the general public to exercise patience and adhere strictly to the temporary traffic arrangements. By prioritizing order and safety, stakeholders aim to deliver a seamless event that underscores Ghana’s enduring reputation for democratic maturity and institutional stability.
