New York City law enforcement officials have launched an urgent manhunt for an unidentified assailant following a terrifying, unprovoked attack in broad daylight. Detectives from the 103rd Precinct are actively tracking a dangerous Jamaica Queens slashing suspect who left a 33-year-old man severely wounded after cutting him across the face on a busy commercial corridor.

Details of the Brazen Daylight Attack

According to preliminary police reports, the 33-year-old victim was walking near the intersection of Jamaica Avenue and 160th Street when the assailant approached him from behind. Without speaking a word or attempting to rob the victim, the attacker pulled out an unidentified bladed weapon and struck him directly across the side of his face.

The victim stumbled into a nearby storefront as eyewitnesses rushed to assist, applying pressure to stem severe bleeding before emergency medical technicians arrived. The victim was transported via EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where medical staff treated the deep laceration. Fortunately, attending physicians confirmed the injuries, while permanent and traumatic, are non-life-threatening.

NYPD Release Description of the Jamaica Queens Slashing Suspect

Following the ambush, the perpetrator immediately fled eastbound along Jamaica Avenue toward 162nd Street on foot, quickly blending into morning pedestrian traffic. NYPD investigators have been canvassing local shops, transit centers, and MTA surveillance cameras to pull high-definition footage of the perpetrator’s escape route.

Police have released the following physical description of the individual wanted for felony assault:

  • Gender & Build: Adult male with a medium build and dark complexion
  • Clothing: Dark hooded sweatshirt, dark track pants, and athletic sneakers
  • Distinguishing Features: Observed carrying a concealed edge tool or razor blade

Heightened Transit & Street Patrols in Southeast Queens

The incident has heightened security concerns throughout downtown Jamaica, one of Queens’ busiest transit and retail hubs. Neighborhood community leaders have called for reinforced NYPD presence along the corridor to ensure commuter safety during peak shopping and commuting hours.

Community patrol officers from the 103rd Precinct have since stepped up foot patrols around surrounding subway entrances and bus depots while the investigation proceeds.
