Appiatse Support Fund to receive US$5 Million Maxam Fine -President

The people of Appiatse by the directive of H.E Nana Addo Dankwaa Akuffo-Addo to be given Five Million United States Dollars(US$5,000,000.00) out of the total Six million United States Dollars(US$6,000,000.00) Maxam Ghana Limited Fine.

The support fund will be used to support the victims of the explosion and help reconstruct the community.

The press release signed by the Minister of Lands and Natural resource,Hon.Samuel Abu Jinapour indicate that the Five million United state dollars (US$5,000,000.00) will be paid in accordance with the agreed terms of payment.

The main agreed terms of payment is that Maxam Ghana Limited will pay an administrative imposed fine of One million United state dollars(US$1,000,000.00) at prevailing commercial rate before they will be given the license to operate.

The remaining Five Million United State Dollars (US$5,000,000.00) payment will be made in 18 month installment based at prevailing commercial rate to the Government to which it will now be directed to the Appiatse Supports Fund.
