A 23-year-old woman from Dallas, Alyssa Rodriguez, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter following a tragic accident early Sunday morning. The incident occurred when Rodriguez, allegedly under the influence, lost control of her vehicle at the intersection of Northwest Highway and North Buckner Boulevard around 2:45 a.m., resulting in the death of her friend, 23-year-old Sarah Gonzalez, who was a passenger in the car.

According to the Dallas Police Department (DPD), Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene, while Rodriguez sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. The DPD has confirmed that Rodriguez faces charges of intoxication manslaughter as they continue their investigation into the crash.

The news has sparked significant reaction on social media, with many expressing outrage and disbelief. One user on Instagram commented, “In times of Uber/Lyft, this shouldn’t happen,” highlighting the availability of alternative transportation options to prevent such tragedies. Another user noted, “Seems like the drunk driver always survives,” reflecting on the often-discussed disparity in outcomes for drunk driving incidents.

This case has reignited discussions about the responsibility of drivers and the consequences of driving under the influence.
