The San Antonio Independent School District community is in mourning following the sudden and tragic death of Alan Gonzalez, a beloved second-year teacher. Gonzalez lost his life in a car accident on Saturday, December 21, 2024, in San Antonio, as confirmed by his family.
The news was shared on social media by Letty Gonzalez, Alan’s mother, who posted on Facebook, “Our beloved youngest son and brother, Alan González, passed away yesterday, December 21, in a car accident in San Antonio. Alan loved playing, coaching, and refereeing volleyball, and his spirit will always be on the court.” The post quickly spread across various platforms, highlighting the impact Gonzalez had on his community.
Gonzalez had joined the San Antonio ISD for the 2023/24 school year after graduating from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2022. He was an alumnus of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North High School, class of 2018. Notably, in his first year with the district, Gonzalez was honored as the “rising star teacher” for the 2023-2024 academic year, reflecting his passion and dedication to education.
