My house was ‘attacked’ a day before the sing-a-thon : Afua Asantewaa 2

Afua Asantewaa, a Ghanaian who is attempting to break the record for the longest singing marathon in history, has talked candidly about the experience she had the day before she started her Guinness World Record challenge.

Her account states that armed thieves broke into her home at midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2023, before her sing-a-thon started. Thankfully, no casualties were reported.

She reported that the armed robbers merely took away her husband’s deodorant and spray, leaving their belongings, such as laptops and cell phones, untouched.

Afua Asantewaa stated that the event had an impact on her psychological state, which affected the first day of the sing-a-thon challenge, in an interview with GhOne TV that GhanaWeb was watching.

Before the official sing-a-thon started on Monday, armed men broke into our home late at night and attacked us. We were unable to enter. And then, the previous Wednesday, I believe, I began as well; by the time we were home on Sunday, they had broken into our house. But they just dispersed all of our belongings; we have no idea how they got in.

“They didn’t take anything, not even the money. My husband’s deodorant and spray were all they took.
Money was there, laptops were there, and nothing was taken. They simply came to cause chaos. That Wednesday was the one prior to my start. We were forced to leave our house, check into a hotel, and do all of that. So we were unable to return home after the sing-a-thon.
We were forced to stay at a hotel.

She shot back, saying, “Thursday was terrible,” when asked how it affected her psychologically. I’m already stressed out, as anyone who saw me on Thursday could have mentioned someplace. They were unaware of my situation, nevertheless. It was Wednesday night, so our bedroom was not a good place to sleep. In the living room, we slept.”

Today, Friday, December 29, 2023, marked the end of Afua Asantewaa’s quest for a Guinness World Record “singathon,” as he managed to surpass the previous record with 126 hours.

It’s unclear if the Guinness World Records assessment will determine that she can break the record.
