#NPP Flagbearership : I trusted people too much – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, a former flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that his faith in people could have contributed to his loss in the most recent internal elections.

The Assin Central Member of Parliament claims that he might have lost his job because he trusted people more than was appropriate.

“Maybe this is a prelude; I probably placed too much trust in people.” I used to think I was perfect, but after this election, I realize I’m not. Thus, I am learning a lot,” he said at a gathering in the US city of Minnesota to members of his support group We’re for Ken Worldwide.

Kennedy Agyapong, however, encouraged his followers to hold onto their hope and thanked them for their faith in him.

He played off rumors that the NPP was about to split, saying that his ambition to govern the nation would never stop.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia received 118,210 votes out of the total valid votes cast in the NPP’s presidential primary on November 4. This is a greater number than his nearest competitor Kennedy Agyapong, who received 71,991 votes, or 37.42% of the total valid votes.

Francis Addai-Nimoh received only 781 votes, or 0.41 percent of the total valid votes, whereas Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto received 1,459 votes, or 0.76% of the total.
