Ghanaian Government Imposes Curfew in Nkwanta Township : Ghanaian government has imposed a curfew on the Nkwanta Township in the Oti Region, effective from Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The curfew will last from 5:00pm to 6:00am daily.

The decision to impose the curfew was taken by the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, on the advice of the Oti Regional Security Council. The curfew is intended to help restore calm and order to the township, which has been experiencing some unrest in recent times.

In a press release, the Ministry of the Interior appealed to all residents of Nkwanta Township and its environs to comply with the curfew and to cooperate with the security services. The ministry also reminded residents that there is a ban on all persons in the township from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons.

Residents Express Concern About Curfew

Some residents of Nkwanta Township have expressed concern about the curfew. They say that the curfew will make it difficult for them to go about their daily lives.

One resident, who spoke to Citi News on condition of anonymity, said that the curfew will make it difficult for him to go to work. He said that he starts work at 6:00am and that the curfew will make it impossible for him to get to work on time.

Another resident, who also spoke to Citi News on condition of anonymity, said that the curfew is an infringement on their rights. She said that they have the right to move freely and that the curfew is restricting their movement.
