On Sunday, November 12, 2023, at around 7:20 am, an earth tremor hit parts of Accra, Ghana. The tremor lasted for a few seconds and sent residents into a panic, with many running out of their homes around Weija, a suburb of Accra. Residents around Mallam, Gbawe, SCC, and Bortianor also reported experiencing the tremor.

There are no reports of any injuries or damage to property. However, several people who experienced the tremor took to social media to share their experience. Some people described feeling their buildings shaking, while others said they heard a loud rumbling noise.

The Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) has confirmed that the tremor was caused by a small earthquake that occurred about 10 kilometers southeast of Accra. The earthquake had a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale.

Earth tremors are common in Ghana, as the country lies on a fault line. However, tremors of this magnitude are relatively rare.
