A Nigerian lady has shared a shocking story online about her brother’s failed marriage, warning others that no matter how bad their love life seems, it could always be worse.
According to the narrator, her brother, who lives in the UK, returned to Nigeria to marry a woman he had been communicating with on Instagram for just six months. They met in person for the first time during his visit, spent a month together, and proceeded with the wedding. The bride already had a child from a previous relationship, but her husband embraced the situation wholeheartedly because of his love for her.
After the marriage, the wife was meant to join him in the UK, but delays with her travel documents kept her in Owerri, Imo State. Her husband returned abroad alone while supporting her and the child financially. He even set up a store for her to run a business.
Later, she expressed a desire to relocate to Abuja for a “change of environment,” despite still being enrolled in school in Owerri. Trusting her, he agreed and continued providing for her needs.
Unbeknownst to him, she began inviting her ex-boyfriend from secondary school—an errand boy in Owerri known for running tasks for wealthy individuals—to Abuja. She reportedly lavished him with gifts, paid for his flights, and funded his lifestyle.
The truth came to light when the brother’s friend, also based abroad and visiting Nigeria, spotted the ex-boyfriend among a group he was socializing with. During casual conversation, the ex boasted about his frequent trips to Abuja, revealing that his former girlfriend (the wife) was fully financing and spoiling him. He even showed photos and videos as proof.
The friend immediately informed the brother, who confronted his wife. She reportedly did not deny the affair. Devastated and ashamed, he instructed her to pack her belongings and leave the house before his return in two weeks.
Instead, she allegedly sold off everything in the home and vanished with her ex-lover. To this day, neither has been seen or heard from.
The story has sparked widespread reactions online, with many expressing sympathy for the brother and cautioning about rushing into marriage based on online relationships.
