The presiding judge ordered that Eshun undergo a psychiatric assessment at Pantang Psychiatric Hospital before the next hearing date. The remand comes amid ongoing investigations into allegations of causing public fear and panic through his widely publicized doomsday prophecies.

Eshun, who gained notoriety in 2025 for predicting a catastrophic global flood beginning on December 25 and constructing wooden arks to “save” followers, was arrested on December 31, 2025, by the Ghana Police Service’s Special Cyber Vetting Team.

His failed prophecy sparked widespread controversy, with reports of people abandoning homes and traveling to his ark site in search of salvation. After the predicted apocalypse did not materialize, Eshun claimed divine intervention had postponed the event.

Police sources indicate that formal charges may include spreading false information likely to cause fear and alarm to the public. The case has been adjourned, with the next court date pending the completion of the psychiatric report.

Authorities have urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue. Eshun’s actions had drawn significant media attention and social media backlash in recent months.
